The guest of honor had flown to Washington all the way from Korvatunturi, Finnish Lapland. The one and only Santa Claus greeted visitors with joy and received numerous wishes from the nice children of D.C. The line of those desiring a picture with Santa stayed long during the whole day.

Crowds were also intrigued by glögi and piparit, Finnish mulled wine and gingerbread cookies. In addition to the holiday fare, information on Finland was on offer. A number of people showed great interest towards the country with questions varying from favorite Finnish recipes to Finland's 100-year-old history.
