The mission of Finnish representations is to increase awareness of Finland and facilitate cooperation and exchange between organizations and companies in Finland and the United States, on the West Coast particularly in the field of high technology.

Finnish missions abroad supply information and help companies establish contacts with the local business community, consultants and legal experts. They can also facilitate access for companies to local authorities. Honorary Consulates that work in cooperation with the Finnish missions can also help to identify required business contacts. Information about Honorary Consulates can be obtained from Finnish diplomatic missions, local authorities and local telephone directories. The missions follow political and economic developments in the country concerned and, upon request, give information to individuals and companies about the country and region, including developments there, and may also offer their own views on opportunities or risks related to the business environment.

In cooperation with local representatives of Finpro, the missions also answer questions concerning trade and local economies. However, Finpro takes principal responsibility for replying to such inquiries. If Finpro does not have any representation of its own in the country concerned and the diplomatic mission cannot provide a response, it redirects the inquirer to another source of information. In many cases, Finpro's own web site can provide answers to inquiries.

The missions also organize promotional events in collaboration with companies to enhance trade and investments, taking note of the local conditions. The missions also participate in the preparation of official visits from and to Finland and ensure that the authorities, other interested parties and enterprises both in Finland and in the country concerned are properly informed about them. To help companies benefit from official visits, it is possible to arrange for them to be invited to official functions.
