Nordic LA – A Trailblazer of Nordic Co-operation in LA

Nordic LA and the Consulate General of Finland hosted their first Nordic Night that centered around music.

Nordic LA's event space started to fill up with people and their lively discussions – Norwegian singer, American guitarist, Finnish music product and export managers, Danish event organizer, American producers – everyone was there.  The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Live music, snacks and refreshments encouraged interesting people to chat about what the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles, has to offer for Nordic creative industry professionals. But what brought all these bright minds together in the heart of Hollywood?

Nordic LA

Nordic LA and the Consulate General of Finland will be organizing Nordic Nights events throughout the year with different themes, including Nordic music, tech, comedy, food and design, to only mention a few. The objective is to bring like-minded people from the U.S. and Nordics together and to make Nordic expertise better known in LA.

This time, in the first Nordic Night ever, the hot topic of the event was music and more precisely music exports. Nordic LA and the Consulate General of Finland organized a pre-NAMM Mixer that enabled creative industry professionals to share ideas and to network with each other before heading to the music product industry trade show later that week. The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), the world's largest trade-only event for the music products industry, gathers yearly together domestic and international dealers and distributors in Anaheim Convention Center. This year also Finnish companies were in attendance.

Nordic LA offers a new innovative work platform that brings creative industry professionals from all the Nordic countries together in the city of Los Angeles. The work space is located on Hollywood Blvd with a great view of the city and the famous Hollywood sign. Nordic LA is much more than just a physical work space and membership is much more than just access to the work space. Nordic LA is based on a combination of individual memberships and partnerships with public and private organizations from the Nordic countries. Members will also get access to a diverse network, invitations to exclusive events and targeted network activities, participation in pop-ups and workshops, attractive meeting facilities, studios, event spaces and much more.

The Consulate General of Finland in LA has been working closely with Nordic LA to make these Nordic Nights events happen. As the concept is still new, we are excited to see all the synergies this unique platform has to offer. For more information about Nordic LA, visit their website: From the excited exchange of ideas and business cards, one can tell that there has definitely been a demand for this kind of concept and event! Stay tuned to see what's coming up next!
