The Diplomatic Finnish Sauna Society of DC, a networking club for media and PR professionals that was founded at the Finnish embassy two years ago, was featured in an extensive article in The Washington Post on March 18.
In the front page piece, the society's membership list was described as an impressive collection of dignitaries, and the atmosphere of the sauna events was referred to as "unique". The society was also praised for being an excellent and insightful way to network in Washington.
For the past two years, the Finnish Embassy has organized networking sessions for Washington's policy staffers and the journalists who cover them. The sauna society counts among its 150 members “the operatives who make Washington spin: Capitol Hill staffers, public-policy wonks, lobbyists, administration officials -- and reporters eager to pick up some off-message analysis,” The Washington Post writes.
